Burgmann Anglican School – Pre-Kinder Centre

Build& was appointed by Burgmann Anglican School to deliver Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and Superintendency services for the development of a new Pre-Kinder Centre, designed to accommodate up to 154 early learners. Spanning over 3,000 m2, the project incorporates purpose-designed classrooms, circulation zones, and thoughtfully integrated outdoor learning environments, reflecting best practice in early childhood education design.
The facility was meticulously designed in accordance with the Centre-Based Education and Care Services Planning Guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with contemporary pedagogical approaches. Emphasis was placed on flexibility, safety, and sensory engagement, creating a nurturing and developmentally supportive environment for the school’s youngest learners.
Given the live school setting, extensive care was taken to ensure construction activities were managed to avoid disruption to ongoing teaching and learning. Operational continuity and student safety were critical priorities throughout all phases of delivery. Build& worked closely with the school’s leadership and facilities team to implement effective staging, traffic management, and noise control measures tailored to the needs of a sensitive early childhood education environment.

Stakeholder consultation formed a core component of the project’s success. Regular engagement sessions were conducted with school leadership, early learning educators, parent representatives, and design consultants to ensure that the built outcome reflected the community’s aspirations and functional needs. This collaborative approach informed everything from internal room layouts to landscape treatments, ensuring a child-focused outcome that also enhances the broader campus.
In addition to the new Pre-Kinder building, the project also involved the reconfiguration of existing car parking areas and the addition of new car spaces. These improvements were made to enhance overall site amenity, streamline vehicle flow during peak times, and ensure accessibility for staff and families.
